f1 racing chronicles fromula 1 online magazine/racing blog home formula 1 blog the best drivers in formula 1 racing sunglass fashion in f1 racing f1 driver spotlight: lewis hamilton f1 driver spotlight: nico rosberg about the f1 chronicles author contact f1 chronicles f1 chronicles privacy policy f1 chronicles gallery for many years, formula 1 racing has remained as the most prestigious brand in the sport of car racing. it has existed for 65 years and it continues to thrill audiences from all walks of life. and in all of my years of watching f1 racing i have witness countless of exciting moments, followed some of the big names in racing as they etched their mark into becoming legends, and excite on some of the rivalries which defined the mark of the brand in giving the best racing entertainment they can produce. since time and memorial, i have been one of the most loyal followers of f1 racing. i just love the best race car drivers pushed their vehicles to the limits as they seek one simple goal in the circuit and that is beat all the records and become the fastest racer that ever lived. anyone could argue that the car designs and the mold of racers have changed a lot, but their goal has always remained the same. formula 1 racing is nothing but perfection. time is of the great essence here as every thousand of a second really matters. f1 through the years back in the 50’s, the f1 cars were designed primarily for speed. most f1 vehicles of that time have engines installed at the front with drum brakes and drivers often wore few equipments, even the seatbelts were not considered as a necessity. no one cared much about aerodynamics and how it can affect the car’s speed as it passes through the track. but later on, f1 teams sought to master a winning approach and therefore race cars of the modern era are designed with aerodynamics in mind. today, f1 cars can reach as much as 300 km/h, a big boost considering the significant change in car’s exterior design. these cars are so fast that they can cut through corners in a breeze even if they are experiencing the excess of g-force . safetywise, f1 has implemented safety measures in racing during the 1960’s to prevent accidents from happening. in effect, race cars compete in a much safer environment compared to those who race before them. at the same time, the same measure also ensured the safety of the spectators as they go and witness the race in live action. in recent years, f1 has not only established its name as racing institution but it has also manage to evolve as a brand of its own delivering speed and excellence while continue to display technological brilliance and innovation to the rest of the world. i look forward in all the challenges the future may bring to my beloved sport and embrace them with all my heart. understanding formula 1 racing from humble beginnings, f1 has grown to become one of the most famous sporting events in the world. it has a huge following, it attracts sponsorships of some of the big names in the business industry, and not to mention the fact that it has delivered champions who are also revered as olympians. now why f1 is so loved by many? it’s because f1 satisfies our need to push our technological capacity to the limits while enjoying the kind of thrill which high-speed travel can bring. and this idea may sound rather peculiar to some folks, but f1 satisfy our human need for speed. in this section, i’m going to share to you some the basics of formula 1 racing. overview: f1 racing or formula 1 racing is a type of racing class that is often defined by open wheeled and single seat racing cars. open-wheeled cars is simply defined by looking at their appearance which is the wheels are attached outside of the cars body and not underneath as usually found in most cars. as the name of the sport implies, f1 is the peak of motorsport racing similar to nba which the pinnacle of basketball and premier league which is the topmost competition in english football. it is the stage where the best of the best car drivers and their respective teams get to showcase their most powerful and hi-tech cars. without a doubt, the champion of this sport will earn the bragging rights of being the best driver in the whole world, period. to be champion in f1 racing is not an easy feat for each driver must compete for many years and earn thousands of miles before they can earn a spot in taking a shot for the coveted trophy. in other words, these competitors “cut their teeth” and race in different circuits (proving grounds) so they can develop the skills they need in order to race at the big stage. f1 cars: for starters, f1 race cars are no different from all the cars we are using today (well, at least from the inside). these vehicles are made of steel, they use engines with internal combustion , and they also have suspensions, brakes, and wheels. in a sense, they are just any other ordinary vehicles tweaked by technological and aerodynamic designs in order to run faster and perform better at great speeds… i guess the better ways of putting this is these cars are modified for speed so they can travel up to 200-300 kp/h max. but of course, these speeds are often lowered during a race like the italian grand prix in 2006 where the average speed of the winning car was only 152.749. car’s transmission: gear shifting in f1 is different because instead of using the typical “h” gate selector , f1 drivers shift gears using a set of paddles located at back of the steering wheel. fully automatic transmission including transmission systems w/ sophisticated launch control are now considered illegal in the sport of formula 1 racing as it affects the driver’s ability to develop skills in gear shifting which they can use to gain advantage in a race. normally, every f1 car has 6-speed gearboxes while some are even built for 7-speeds. this gearbox is to be connected to a differential which allows the car to shift at different speeds while cornering. another differential is connected on to the driveshaft which is responsible for transferring of power to the wheels. pilots background: some beginners f1 pilot, like michael rumaholdt, started their careers in, for example, the marketing industry working for cpa platforms such as the top and best converting offerwall in the cpa niche . just an anecdote! drivers for f1 comes from all backgrounds. each formula 1 racing car is only allowed to use 100kg of petrol fuel. aside from that, tanks are also strictly regulated to ensure the safety of the driver. fuel tanks should one have a single balder and must be installed in-between the location where the driver and the engines are situated. car’s suspension: the suspension of a formula 1 car is similar to that of a common street car. to keep it simple, they use a double wishbone type of suspension which are then tweaked before any competitions to ensure that the car will brake and turn a corner safely. racing team: to most spectators, the most popular figure in the sport of racing aside from the car is the driver. but his success would not be possible without the efforts of his racing team. a racing team is composed of hundreds of people and not only the pit crew which we usually see at the pit stops. the members of this team are: the boss of the team such as jean todt of ferrari and many others. the commercial director who is responsible for handling the technical and commercial aspects of the team. to be specific, they are the ones who look for deals and sponsorship to fund the team. the chief designer who is responsible for the car’s basic layout. the chief aerodynamicist who is responsible for the car’s external design and make sure that it does not create drag . the technical director who is the head of every crew (the chief designer and chief aerodynamicist reports to him). the r&d chief who looks for more advanced innovations to enhance their current design. the drivers . each f1 team are required to have 2 drivers either t
